Starbucks is targeting grab-and-go of ce workers and cof ee snob sippers, opening two vastly dif erent formats in
the past six months. A 600-sf "espresso shot" location opened on Wall Street in New York this spring, the f rst of
f ve grab-and-go locations for the Big Apple. On the other side of the country, Starbucks launched its Starbucks
Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room in a 15,000-sf f agship store in Seattle, the f rst of 100 planned stores special-
izing in high-end cof ees from around the globe, with initial locations opening in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York,
San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. Overall the cof ee giant plans to open 3,500 new locations in the Americas
in the next f ve years, along with 8,000 locations worldwide. Starbucks has 14,000 stores in the Americas.
